The moment in summer when you can feel the warmth of the sun on your skin and there is an awakening within your body and environment. The long stalks of St. John's Wort grown on our herb farm stretches to the sky reaching that sunlight. Blooming on the summer solstice (a little later in our region due to our northern zone)

It is known as nature's light-bringer, it uplifts our spirits, steadies our mind and soothes some of those frayed edges. St. John's Wort has become a very close friend of mine, when you hold up a leaf of it to the sun, you can see tiny pinpricks in the leaf. I truly believe this plant fills those hold in our aura, heart or being with its sunny disposition.

It reminds me in the darker winter months there is always brightness in the world and the light always returns.

I've grown this herb for a few years now, but this year St. John's Wort gave me no other option but to notice it more deeply than I ever have prior.  That is something that I love most when you begin your connection to the plants, when they grow so big, so beautiful that its hard to not notice them when they are waving to you.

Each batch is crafted with care beneath the open sky — blossoms gathered in their peak bloom, infused with sunlight, patience, and gratitude. This bottle is more than a tincture, its summer resilience, happiness, sunlight. Such a wonderful herbal companion when the world can feel heavy or dim.

This year Calendula and Lemon Balm asked to be part of the medicine. I was happy for their guidance as Lemon Balm is the "happiest herb in the garden" and Calendula for its sunny face smiling at me, needed to be part of a medicine that lifted our spirits. A reminder of the sun and lemons for the darker months or part of your seasons of life.

Use: Take a few drops in water or tea when your energy feels low, your heart weary, or your spirit shadowed, let this beautiful plant fill your holes with sunshine and love. 1-2ml on the tongue or in water or tea.

Intention: To brighten the inner skies and help the light return.

A little note from the blog I had written (You can read the whole post under Seasonal Notes)

First off when you hold a leaf of St. John's Wort up to the sun you can see tiny little holes in the plant. And this is exactly what this plant does for you. As light beings, we radiate light and sometimes that light leaks out of us, you know with just regular every day events that happen, like someone gives you a backhanded comment that you stew on, or someone cuts you off in traffic, little things that we might not really notice, but behind the scenes they are leaking the light out of us.  St. John's Wort helps to fill those holes that we have leaked some light out of with its bright, sunny disposition. It's known for its anti-depressant qualities, which is why I made the tincture in the first place as our winter months are long, hard, cold and did I say long?  Sometimes through these months it's hard to not get a little bit down or melancholy, so that was the original reason of making this medicine. This year I added some Calendula and Lemon Balm to it as they were calling to be included, happy to do so! Calendula is another beautiful friend that has become a close ally to me this summer as well. (Another post for another time)
